Enugu Govt Promises To Expose Ghost Workers, Recover Stolen Funds

The Enugu State Government has reiterated its commitment to rid the state civil service of ghost workers and recover stolen funds from unscrupulous public officers, colluding with corrupt commercial bank officials to defraud the state.
This follows the recent discovery of 6,280 ghost workers and pensioners from the nominal rolls of Local Governments Councils and its Pensions Board.
Briefing journalists after the State Executive Council meeting, the Commissioner for Information, Mr Ogbuagu Anikwe, said part of the discovery was a fallout of the committee that recently disbursed the first tranche of the Paris Club Refund.
Mr Ogbuagu said the state has paid all the outstanding salaries of Local Government workers and some pensioners.
